Elections

The Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council has openings for individuals who would like to serve their community.   The mission statement of the Town Council is: “To serve, represent and promote the activities and interests of all Rancho de los Peñasquitos residents”. As a forum for discussion and resolution of community issues, the Town Council will communicate ideas, recommendations and/or concerns that impact Rancho Peñasquitos to the residents, other community organizations, private and commercial interests, city, county and state agencies and other affected parties as may be appropriate.

 The Town Council was incorporated in 1975 and serves the community in many different ways including philanthropically. Everyone 18 years of age or older and living within Rancho de los Peñasquitos, is invited to request a Candidate Application Form and other information by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to:

There are two representatives from each district and eight ‘Members-at-Large.’  The eight districts are laid out to coincide with the elementary school boundaries and they are:

  • District 1- Adobe Bluffs
  • District 2- Canyonview
  • District 3- Deer Canyon
  • District 4- Los Peñasquitos
  • District 5- Park Village
  • District 6- Rolling Hills
  • District 7- Sundance
  • District 8- Sunset Hills

The term of office is normally two years, with each district electing one member each year.

All persons 18 years of age or older and residents of Rancho de Los Peñasquitos for at least thirty days are eligible to vote. The Election Committee, following the April 20th deadline for Candidate Application, will prepare official Absentee Ballots.

A Request for an Absentee Ballot may be obtained by mailing a stamped, self-addressed envelope to The Election Committee at the above address.  The Election Committee must receive all completed Absentee Ballots at the above address not later than Sunday, 12 noon, April 20, 2008.

The Election Committee will validate the election results and notify winning candidates via mail within two weeks of the election. The newly elected members will be formally seated at the regular meeting on the first Thursday of the following month, June 5, 2008, with their term of office commencing on July 3, 2008.

Serving on the Rancho Peñasquitos Town Council is an educational and rewarding experience! Council Members meet public figures that represent all Peñasquitos residents in local and state government.  Additionally, as representatives of their respective districts, Council Members provide much-needed input on quality of life issues and other important matters that impact the larger community.
